Pre-School & Beginner Youth Dance Program
Pre-School Ages
Tiny Toes; Tutu Cute; Tutu Fun;

The Tiny Toes & Tutu Cute/Fun lessons are a series of movement to music classes that introduce ballet and dance concepts through
everyday action, storied activity & movements and some basic steps and terms.
Classes are taught in a multi sensory environment to
engage each child where they are in their developmental
process and are suitable for both boys and girls.
A variety of music, movement, props and
visuals will help provide your child with the love of dance.
This conceptual approach to dance will provide your little
one with a strong dance foundation technique and
cognitive growth. As well, participation enhances
emotional and social development while bolstering self-
confidence, communication skills and learning abilities.
Beginner Youth
Pre-Ballet; Combo Classes & Level 1
These classes are designed as an introduction to dance class formats and goals, structured around warm-ups, technique, exercises for strength & flexibility, center work, traveling steps, rhythm & counting and choreography.
Ballet being the foundation of dance is usually present in combo classes e.g. Ballet & Tap and DE's view is, no matter the style of class and therefore music, sewing the seeds of body placement, control, strength & flexibility along with training spatial awareness, directional travelling, musicality, imagination and expression are fundamentally important to the young or beginning dancer to lay a firm groundwork on which to build for further advancement in a fun yet disciplined way.
Skill is gained by repetition; not just what you do, but 'how' you do it. Training the body, mind and soul to work together creating invisible skill sets for listening, learning, sharing, expressing, sequencing, memorizing and multi-tasking.
DancEncounter offers creative ballet for little ones and continues to encourage the use of imagination in Pre-Ballet and Level 1 classes while also sharing positions, terminolgy and classical elements. The joy and artistry of expression is a large part of the performing arts and is to be encouraged and explored in addition to technical mastery.
Younger dancers are encouraged to take Ballet Tap and Jazz as their fundamental styles to gain understanding and skill before adding or branching out into lyrical, hip hop, modern/contemporary and such. DE sees Lyrical as a blend of ballet and jazz technique expressing connection to the lyric/ story or feeling of the music. Musical Theatre dance is versed in ballet, tap and jazz (and all styles) and uses a blend of all styles in the various big dance numbers and storied versions of movement, supporting plays, songs and movies akin to the Broadway stages and Hollywood Films.
