DancEncounter has long enjoyed dancing with students with special needs within our home of dance and has been delighted to both share mainstream classes or create the dedicated DancEsteem class for students of similar ages, needs and abilities.  

Here the classes are approximately 30-45 minutes long and students will be exposed to their favorite songs and music tunes while given a physical outlet in a therapeutic and fun learning environment. It is requested parents/guardians stay on site - teamwork is a vital part of the DancEncounter studio and therefore our DancEsteem community.

Previously, for older Students, volunteer advanced dance students have assisted providing leadership or a one on one buddy system.  This is something to work towards again but is contingent upon many schedules meshing... 

 

A class session could visit multiple styles including Ballet, Jazz, or Hip-hop, or a blend thereof, and if desired we can introduce tap dance. Consistency within its framework is the goal but most especially a supported and fun dance learning environment where mastering movement to music is key. Students might sing songs, play games, practice vocals/ numbers and percussions as we learn keeping time with rhythm. Students could also learn dance routines to be performed in our annual stage shows; in previous years, DancEsteem performed in the spring recitals as Super Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, Thomas the Tank and Friends, as well as the Gingerbread Kids in The Nutcracker, to name a few!

Class session is Subject to enrollment. Average cost of classes is $15.00 per class.

DancEsteem Participants become benefactors to LEAF nfp.  LEAF is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization and is a sister branch to DancEncounter.  LEAF stands for Limelight Educational Arts Foundation and DancEncounter contributes the proceeds from DancEsteem classes to this cause. LEAF aims to support the performing arts both in the class room and on the stage.  Any donations are welcome.
